The Four Key Rules for Cooking Meat

If you can’t wait for another second to get some food inside your belly, there’s nothing stopping from your eating the meat straight out of the packet. I mean, we recommend making a sandwich or something, but the point is that there’s no preparation required if you just want a quick bite to eat.

However, you can also cook many of our meats to make hot meals. That’s the side of things that we’re going to look at with this blog post. You have to follow these five rule when cooking any kind of meat, even if it’s been cooked once already.

Rule #1 – Don’t Wash it

It seems like washing should make your meat healthier. But the fact is that it has no effect at all. As you’ll cook at high temperatures, the heat from the cooker will destroy anything that you might have washed off.

Washing also presents a risk. Splashing water can spread bacteria to your work surfaces, which increases the risk of it finding its way onto other foodstuffs.

Rule #2 – Keep Your Chilled Meats Away From Raw Meats

Our halal chilled meats have already been cooked, which means that you have to keep them away from raw meats. Allowing the two types of meat to come into contact with one another leads to bacteria spreading via cross-contamination. This increases the chances of foodborne illnesses occurring.

If you’ve opened your packet of chilled meat and haven’t used it all, we recommend storing it in a sealed Tupperware container. That ensures it’s safe from anything that might compromise its quality when you come to cook it.

Rule #3 – Check the Juices

Again, it’s easier to recook out halal chilled meats than it is to cook raw meats. But as a general rule of thumb, you should still check the juices before serving.

What we mean by this is that you should pierce the meat after cooking. Any juices in the meat should run completely clear. If they don’t, that suggests the meat isn’t fully cooked yet and so could do with a few more minutes in the oven. This is particularly important when you’re cooking poultry, such as chicken or turkey.

Rule #4 – Don’t Reheat Repeatedly

It’s safe to reheat meat once after cooking it. That’s why you’re able to cook our halal chilled meats.

However, you have to avoid reheating the meat again if you’ve already done so. Again, this is because bacteria can spread within the meat when it’s repeatedly heated and then cooled down again.

So if you’re going to cook one of our meat products, make sure you throw any leftovers away. It’s not worth the risk of chilling and heating them up again.
